Naya Rivera Vocal Range

Vocal Type: Mezzo-soprano
Vocal Range: 2.6 Octaves and a semitone (C3-Bb5)
Whistle Register:No
Vocal Pluses: Naya Rivera has great control of her instrument. This allows her to sing complex melisma; hold notes for extended periods of time without wavering in pitch; and helps her to excellently control the dynamic and timbre of her voice
Strong lower-range that extends to the bottom of the third octave. The notes produced here are full, rounded and of medium weight, but are accessed effortlessly meaning they don't have the foggy quality some Divas exhibit when hitting lower notes. Her belting range as a whole has a light, bright, and youthful colouring to it with a slight rasp at times. Both the notes at the top of the fourth octave and those well into the fifth octave sound to be achieved via great technique, thus producing notes that have an easy quality to them, with a consistent tone and timbre.
Naya Rivera primarily uses falsetto to reach the higher notes. This means notes produced have an airy sound, with a warm and light quality to them. Using her falsetto to hit notes makes it easier for her to flip between registers, but it is possible for her to create notes with her head voice- like the exclamations in Smooth Criminal- which are weightier and have a stronger dynamic.

Vocal Negatives:
The voice can sometimes have a slight nasal quality to it.

Aretha Franklin Vocal Range

Vocal type: Mezzo-soprano
Whistle Register: No
Vocal Range: 3.5 G2- E6 (approx)
Longest Note: 5 seconds ("old landmark")
Vocal Pluses: Powerful, passionate voice, which is grounded in the Gospel tradition. Both a technical and an emotive singer, Aretha Franklin is able to sing complex vocal runs, that can span the top of her range right down to the bottom, as well as hold notes for lengths of time with ease.

Aretha Franklin has a well connected range, that appears to sound easily accessible both at the top and the bottom. The lower range is thick and weighty with a dark colouring and a slightly smoky timbre. The midrange begins to become more nasal, and lighter as it ascends into the belting range.

The belting range is incredibly elastic and powerful, having been known to hit a D6 when mixed with its head voice. This part of the range is characterful and easily attributable to Aretha Franklin, due in part to its quick vibrato and nasal tone. Though her voice becomes lighter as its frequency increases, it still retains its resonance and power up into its top reaches. Her flexibility and ease in this part of the range is almost unparalleled.

Vocal Negatives: The voice has become more nasal as she has aged which has lessened the power, and quality of the higher notes.

Jon Bon Jovi Vocal Range

Vocal Type: Low Tenor
Vocal Range: D2-G#6 4 octaves, 3 notes, 2 semitones
Vocal Pulse: His raspy, powerful singing is known all over the world, and his high notes keep getting praise and acclaim.
Jon started out as a standard tenor but his voice quickly lowered into low tenor voice which it has been for the rest of his career. Jon uses really chesty and powerful high note technique and also owns quite strong low register for a low tenor. During 80's and 90's his voice was at the top of it's game but during the beginning of 00's it started to wear out.

Vocal Weknesses: Upper register can sound too much bothering

Giorgia Vocal Range

Vocal Type: Soprano
Vocal Range: C3-C6 3 octaves
Vocal Pulse: Giorgia's voice is unique in the middle range, sweet, smooth, bright and clear. Thanks to her proper tecnique, she's able to go throughout the registers without any break. She also sits in the low range, keeping the resonance and voice's quality, always because of her proper technique. Also a beautiful head register.
Vocal Weknesses: Sometime the high belt chest register sounds thin

Nicki Minaj Vocal Range

Vocal Type: Soubrette
Whistle Register: No
Vocal Range: 2 octaves, 4 notes  D3- Bb5
Vocal Strengths: Although classed as a rapper, has demonstrated the ability to carry a melody aptly. Her voice is full of character and energy: able to switch between a thick and heavy timbre to a light and bright one quickly providing brilliant contrast. Her midrange is solid and her chest is capable of hitting the fifth octave.
Vocal Weaknesses: Her chest voice is thin and becomes weaker very quickly as it gets higher.

P!nk Vocal Range

Vocal Type: Contralto
Vocal Range: 3 octaves. B2- B5
Whistle Register:No
Vocal Pluses:Weighty, thick lower range that is achieved without the need to resort to unhealthy vocal practices, like forcing the larynx down. The midrange is solid and dark, with a husky quality at times but can be sweetened and lightened if needed-Stop Falling. The chest voice can achieve a raw sounding rasp while keeping the voice weighty and resonant, or can be thinned to achieve a purer tone. The head voice is solid and pronounced, with a brightness and clarity.

As well as the multitude of different timbres and colours available to Pink's versatile voice, she also has the vocal dexterity to sing complex meslisma-Love Is Such A Crazy Thing- as well as hold notes for lengths of time without issue.

Vocal Negatives:
When using the rockier edge to the voice Pink can sound unhealthy, also the head voice sounds disconnected and harder to access than the other parts of the range.

Natalie Horler ( Cascada vocalist) Vocal Range

Vocal Type: Mezzo-Soprano
Vocal Range: C#3-B5 2 octaves, 6 notes, 4 semitones
Vocal Pulse: Smooth voice throughouth the whole range, the middle and upper range sound healthy
Vocal Weakness: the low notes sound forced, seems like she doesn't use a healthy technique to reach them

Top 10 most singers' vocal profile seen of the week ( from 01/07/2013 to 01/13/2013)

2)Adele
3)One Direction
4)KrystalMusicWorld
5)Adam Lambert
6)Sam Northwood
7)Whitney Houston
8)Alicia Keys
9)Rihanna
10)Demi Lovato
CONGRATULATIONS TO MARCO MENGONI!!!

Carly Rae Jepsen Vocal Range

Vocal Type: Mezzo-Soprano
Vocal Range: E3-F5 2 octaves one note
Vocal Pulse: Unique Voice, beautiful in the low range
Vocal Weaknes: Voice lack of resonance in the higher range

Lady Gaga Vocal Range

Vocal Type: Mezzo-Soprano
Whistle Register: No
Vocal Range: 2.7 octaves (C3-B5 approx)
Vocal Pluses: Powerful, passionate voice, with a rock tinge. Expressive and well controlled voice that does not lean on melisma to impress, though she is capable of using this vocal technique if required. Lady Gaga's low notes are well supported, and have a dark, solid and weighty timbre to them. The mid-range can be melodic and lyrical as well be utilised in a talk/singing fashion- see Poker Face.

The lower part of the belting range has a weight, and thick timbre to it along with a strong resonance. This resonance can be carried into the higher part of the chest register- past a C5- but it calls for the use of improper technique, making the sound raspier and raw, as its placed in the throat. These qualities can be eliminated, at the expense of the resonance of the voice, by mixing with the head voice. The sound produced is clearer and brighter with a healthier sound.

The head voice alone can be light and airy- see the chorus of Paparazzi- or thicker and with an operatic like tone- see the intro of Government Hooker. Lady Gaga's vibrato is strong, quick and reminiscent of that utilised by stage singers, but she is capable of singing without it  if she chooses.

Vocal Negatives:
Lady Gaga's high belting can sound like shouting at times, which would indicate bad technique or singing outside of her range.

Amy Lee Jones Vocal Range

Vocal Type: Mezzo-Soprano
Vocal Range: Eb3-E6 3 octaves 1 note
Vocal Pulse: beautiful chest belting which sounds powerful and clears, superb headvoice reached with a healthy tecnique
Vocal Weakness: her upper range can sound like she's not using a healthy technique, her low notes are weak

Kelly Rowland Vocal Range

Vocal TypeMezzo-Soprano
Vocal Range:3 octaves 1 note and 2 semitones  C3- Eb6
Vocal Pluses: Her voice really shines in its strong, weighty midrange belt that can be made to sound even more impressive with the application of her vibrato. She is also able to execute complex vocal runs.
Vocal Negatives: Weaker low range that is reached via bad technique. The upper extremities of the chest register can sometimes sound harsh,  rough and unpolished.

Vanessa Hudgens Vocal Range

Vocal Type: Mezzo-Soprano
Vocal Range: 2 Octaves 4 notes and a semitone F3-C#6
Whistle Register: No
Vocal Pluses: Lower part of the range is where the voice sounds healthiest, with it being fuller and more substantial than any other part.

Shy'm Vocal Range ( Extention Vocale )

Vocal Type: Soprano

Vocal Weakness: her low notes are weak and sometime  breathy

giovedì 10 gennaio 2013

Alessandra Amoroso Vocal Range ( Estensione Vocale )

Vocal Type: Mezzo-Soprano
Vocal Range:  D3-G#5 (still to update)
Vocal Pulse: She learnt how to place her voice over the years and now she has, not a good tecnique, but an acceptable technique. Her voice is unique, smooth and bright
Vocal Weakness: her low notes sound weak, and she seems like she's using an unhealthy technique to reach them. Her voice can be unpleasant to hear when she reavhes her high register

Emma Marrone Vocal Range ( Estensione Vocale )

Voice Type: Contralto
Vocal Range: C3-F5(still to uptade) 2 octaves 3 notes and 2 semitones
Vocal Pulse: Emma voice is hot, deep and smooth from the lower part of her range to the higher, her voice can give emotion thanks to its sensuality
Vocal Weakness: her upper register can sound forced and lack of tecnique sometime

Marco Mengoni Vocal Range ( Estensione Vocale )

Voice Type: Lyric Tenor
Vocal Range:  C3-F6 3 octaves 3 notes and 2 semitones
Whistle Register: Yes
Vocal Pulse: Marco has a beautiful middle register which sounds bright and clear, his low notes are deep and warm
Vocal Weakness: his mixed voice sometime can sound like he's using falsetto or falsettone to reach them, specialy when he reaches the upper range. Marco hasn't a good singing tecnique, he seems like he doesn't sing with his diaphragm but with his throat, which is unhealthy

Leona Lewis Vocal Range

Vocal Type: Mezzo-soprano
Vocal Range: 3 Octaves 3 notes and a semitone (C3- F#6)
Whistle Register: Yes
Longest Note: 12 seconds - 'Over The Rainbow' (live)
Vocal Pluses: Technical singer, with the dexterity to sing complex melisma and the stamina to hold notes easily. The voice has an overarching sweet and light tone. The texture of the mid-range, and the head-voice can be alternated between a smoky timbre and a clearer one depending on choice. The chest voice is strongest and most resonate in its lower half (from a B4 to a C5) but is capable of extending up to a G5 where it becomes brighter, and lighter but with noticeably less resonance. Finally, the head voice is pure and rounded, sounding easily accessible and connected to the range as a whole.
Vocal Negatives: Control of low notes is shaky and sometimes higher belted notes are reached without mixing, leading to a harsher tone. The vibrato can also sound unwieldy at times.

Lara Fabian Vocal Range

Vocal Type: Soprano
Vocal Range: 3 Octaves 5 notes and 3 semitones  Bb2-G6
Whistle Register: No
Vocal Pluses: Strong, powerful, clear belting range, that has a dark, heavy timbre.
Vocal Negatives: Belting (chest) voice can become overbearing due its power.

Ke$ha Vocal Range

Vocal Type: Contralto
Vocal Range: 3 octaves and 2 notes. C#3- Eb#6
Vocal Pluses: Unique vocal style; Can be full of attitude and agression one moment and softer and more serene the next. (See Animal to hear these two styles on one track)
Vocal Negatives: Many find her use of autotune does not allow an accurate picture of her voice to be established.

Christina Aguilera Vocal Range

Vocal Type: Mezzo- Soprano
Vocal Range: 4 octaves. C3- C7
Whistle Register:Yes
Longest Note: 20 seconds - 'At last' (live)
Vocal Pluses: Christina Aguilera has a very nimble and dexterous voice that allows for incredible vocal runs and for her to able to jump between the different parts of her range with ease. Also has the stamina to hold notes for extended periods of time, with or without vibrato.

The midrange is heavy and thick- more so in recent years- and it is where the voice is most comfortable. The texture of her voice, particularly her belted notes, is unique with a coarse, throaty edge to it when sung without mixing. This texture can be eliminated, producing a smoother tone, when the voice is mixed effectively but the sound produced is lighter and less resonate. The head voice can be either bright and piercing or delicate and airy, depending on what is called for artistically.

Vocal Negatives: The higher, coarser chest notes- above a C5- tends to be forced, pulled and unhealthy. Though it should be noted many fans site the sound produced as a plus to her voice, despite it being achieved via questionable vocal means. Although able to sing in the whistle register the notes produced tend be laboured and require a vocal run to access.

Miley Cyrus Vocal Range

Vocal Type: Contralto
Vocal Range: 3 Octaves one semitone C#3- E6
Vocal Pluses: Unique voice, that is instantly recognisable. Surprisingly wide range.
Vocal Negatives:  Nasal tone, and a chest voice that is shrill and piercing.

Check this video I made about "I Adore You"

Michael Buble Vocal Range

Voice Type: Baritone
Vocal Range: G2-Eb5
Vocal Pulse: Michael Buble understood his voice and knew how to place and use it over the years, in fact his singing tecnique is healthy. His voice is deep, dark and powerful over his whole range.
Vocal Weakness: Sometime his low notes sound a little bit weak even he's a baritone. His headvoice can often sound weak

Lea Michele Vocal Range

Vocal Type:Soprano
Vocal Range:2 Octaves 5 notes and 4 semitones E3-D6
Vocal Pluses:Technical singer with a good grasp of her voice as a whole, thus the sound it produces is always supported well. Her chest voice is crystal clear and has great dynamics, with the higher belted notes being reached through the aid of mixing with the head voice. Her intonation and delivery is also brilliant meaning her voice can effectively communicate a song's emotion and sentiment without sacrificing the audibility of the lyrics. She is also able to reach the D6 with her head voice check out this video
Vocal Negatives:Her vocal styling means that the vast majority of her performances have a theatrical feel to them, suggesting a limitation to the genres she can sing. Also her chest register can sometimes sound overbearingly strong/piercing, especially when the notes aren't softened with vibrato.

Jason Derulo Vocal Range

Vocal Type: Spinto tenor A2-C6
Vocal Strengths: Jason has a solid falsetto that is actually rather impressive. He has an obvious ear for melody that bodes well for him as a songwriter. Unfortunately, much like his record sales, all other aspects of his voice come up short. It's not that he's a god-awful singer, but his utter lack of any discernably human personality gets in the way of him being believable most of the time.
Vocal Weaknesses: Limited vocal ability is overcompensated by thick layers of autotune and digitally enhancing pro-tools, courtesy of [insert any Top 40 Pop producer]. Jason's voice is so faceless and unassuming that when it's not adorned with the studio's bells & whistles it becomes easily forgettable. His voice needs to be dipped in a lot of sauce for it to taste good. On its own it's as dry as unbuttered toast.

Trey Songz Vocal Range

Vocal Type: Dramatic tenor (Ab2-G#5)
Vocal Strengths: Versatile R&B vocalist who tends to use the full extent of his voice on all albums and most singles. Rich falsetto swirls up and down the scales with commanding authority. Sings with power and conviction that's often mistaken for singing "too hard" and/or "too forceful". Well-nuanced voice that shows signs of professional training in contemporary, as well as classic, R&B vocal stylings. Awkward vocal ticks and inflections makes Songz's velvety voice instantly recognizable.
Vocal Weaknesses: Excessive use of vibrato makes him sound like a angry goat being strangled and violently shaken, while simultaneous enduring an earthquake. He's the male Rihanna, in terms of his affinity for throaty runs and guttural growls. He barks notes instead of singing them. Strained notes can sound painful to the listener

Ne-Yo Vocal Range

Vocal Type: Lyric tenor C3-F#5 2,3 octaves and 1 semitone
Vocal Strengths: Ne-Yo is a straightforward singer with a clear voice that provokes endearing sentiment. Voice is the epitome of 'pleasant'. Well-supported chest belter. Displays expert vocal control in his studio recordings as well as live showings. Never decorates songs with over indulgent ad-libbing.
Vocal Weaknesses: He is the male Leona Lewis. Both have silky, smooth, pitch-perfect voices but are equally about as exciting as a trip to the dentist. Ne-Yo's voice is not very dynamic nor moving, it's the vocal equivalent of good elevator music.

Michael Jackson Vocal Range

Vocal Type: High Tenor
Vocal Range: 4 Octaves (F2-F6)
Vocal Pluses: Michael Jackson's voice was predominately light and agile with a nimble, rhythmic dexterity that allowed for complex vocal runs, as well as allowing it to mimic instruments- such as drums- or employ trademark grunts and exclamations that were controlled and achieved via proper technique. The voice also had the strength and stamina to hold notes for lengths of time, without wavering in pitch, and the ability to emote the meaning of the lyrics exceptionally.

The low range was the heaviest part of the voice, and was surprisingly dark when compared to the higher parts of the modal range, in which he usually sang. As the voice passed into the midrange it began to lighten and brighten significantly. The chest voice had an elasticity and flexibility that allowed for it to stretch, without much impact on the tone, up to the fifth octave. The belting range had a number of timbres, being either bright, light and smooth, or coarser, slightly heavier and with an edge-see They don't care about us . The falsetto was solid, warm and more resonate than many other male singers, though it was also capable of a softer timbre if so required. Comfortable in this part of the range, Michael Jackson could sing effortlessly here holding notes, or hitting complex staccato notes- see Butterfies.

Unique and immediately recognisable voice that harmonised with itself brilliantly to create luscious and iconic layered vocals.

Vocal Negatives:
Michael Jackson's tone could be considered thin and lacking in resonance, particularly in the mid-to high part of the modal register, when compared to other male singers. It should be noted that many fans consider this to be a unique, and positive, feature of the voice.

Justin Timberlake Vocal Range

Vocal Type:(Light) Lyric tenor  3 octaves A2-B5
Vocal Strengths:Justin's timbre is warm and inviting. He has masterful control over his falsetto register, unlike his blue-eyed soul brother Robin Thicke. Timberlake's upper register trills are full and resonate. Ability to belt in falsetto. Able to sustain full-bodied mid-range belts with precise pitch. Excellent communicator of emotion.
Vocal Weaknesses:Chest belts can be thin and airy, with very little power.

Usher Vocal Range

Vocal Type: Spinto tenor with substantial heldentenor capabilities and a vocal range spanning over 3 octaves (approx. A2-Bb5).
Vocal Strengths: Throughout Usher's wide range, his vocals ooze raw, unadulterated sexual energy and passion. His vocals are rich, creamy and smooth, boasting unwavering fluidity. Maintains crystal clear clarity in the highest reaches of his falsetto ("Burn"), all the while never sacrificing diction. His low notes are thick and chocolatey, his chest belts are powerful and his head voice is impressively supple even when hitting high G5's. Usher is Beyonce's counterpart in terms of being able to dance full-out and sing well at the same time. The vocal maven of contemporary pop and R&B.
Vocal Weaknesses: With trends in music ever evolving, Usher gingerly hopped on the euro-pop bandwagon seeking hollow No. 1s, but unfortunately lost his soul in the process. Most of Usher's singles released after Tameka-gate feature uninterestingly dull vocals atop generic house beats. His voice no longer has that spark. Some sound advice for the entertainer would be to stay away from anything produced by David Guetta, RedOne, or their ilk — their artificial productions kill all traces of soul in his voice.

Britney Spears Vocal Range

Vocal Type: Soubrette
Vocal Range: 3 octaves  (C#3- C#6)
Vocal Pluses: Can sing in tune and has an instantly recognisable recording voice. Her real strength lies in her mid to low range, as it's where her voice finds its most pleasant timbre.
Vocal Negatives: Voice becomes nasal as it ascends the chest register, thinning and gaining an unpleasant twang to it.

Chris Brown Vocal Range

Vocal Type:  Spinto tenor, 3 octaves G2-G5
Vocal Strength: The duality of his tone ranges from earthy and sexy to bright and agile, depending on what the song calls for. Incredibly rich lower register maintains its clarity even at its extremes. Usually sings in full voice with a husky tone and a slight nasal drawl that [now] appears to be diminishing more and more with age. Ad libs, runs, and riffs usually contribute to the overall melody of the song and are skillfully implored. Brown is excellent at vocal arrangements and harmonizes well.
Vocal Weaknesses: Chris' vocal timbre is arid, catarrhal, and dry. Doesn't display much variation in vocal styles and shies away from vocal acrobatics, instead treads safely in his middle register. Brown's voice isn't very strong nor heavy. Chest belts can sound strained and forced when pushed to the limits of his upper register. Although melodic and complimentary, his ad-libs lack variation and creativity. No vocal stamina, particularly live.
For some reason, Chris always sounds "unwarmed-up" and hoarse, especially live. High belts past C#5 sound thin and whiney compared to the usual thickness of his voice. When trying to overtly project his voice, Brown sings from his head instead of his diaphragm. Limits himself as a competent live singer due to his inability to reproduce computerized [electro-pop] notes live. Chris Brown's lip syncing has become second only to Britney Spears. But at least he still has the dance moves to make up for it.
