Katy Perry Vocal Range

Vocal Type: Contralto
Vocal Range: 3 Octave, 5 tones and 4 semitones ( E3-C#7)
Whistle Register: No
Vocal Pluses:Recognisable voice that has a soft and sweet head voice, and a punchy, attitude infused chest voice that has a slight rasp to it. Her lower range is texturally thick, and has a darker colouring than the rest of her range.
Vocal Negatives: Criticisms have been levelled at her actual vocal ability when live and recorded vocals are contrasted. Her live voice doesn't appear to have the range, stamina, or tuning that the recorded vocals would suggest it does. Whether these changes are due to nerves hampering her ability during live shows, or studio trickery having been used to achieve the original vocals is debatable.

  1. This is true that she's a contralto. She's NOT a soprano like some sources say. She sings high notes and doesn't sound like a man but she does sound like a man kinda sometimes. I go by timbre of a singer's voice not by how high or low a singer sings. Not all contraltos sound a like!
